Master of Education
Workforce Development Education

Welcome!

Attention New Students

Now that you've been admitted to the University of Arkansas and will be pursuing a Master of Education degree in Workforce Development Education, you should review the Procedures Manual. Also, a new student checklist had been created for you to make the registration process as easy as possible. Please follow the step-by-step instructions below.

New Student Checklist

  1. Contact your advisor
Students are assigned to a faculty advisor in the department who will help them develop their Program of Study and advise them in terms of course selection. The advisor's name and e-mail address will appear on the letter students receive from the department notifying them of their admittance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the advisor.

Note: Advisors are not scheduled to be on campus during the summer months or over the Christmas holidays. Students are encouraged to get in touch with their advisors as soon as they have received notice from the department that they have been admitted. Students should be able to reach their advisors by phone or e-mail.

If you are having difficulty reaching your advisor and need to register for classes, contact Dr. Fredrick Nafukho at nafukho@uark.edu, (479) 575-4899, or Dr. Kenda Grover at kgrover@uark.edu, (479) 575-2675.

  2. Set up UARK Account
Every student has access to ISIS (Integrated Student Information System), e-mail and Internet services through Computing Services at the University of Arkansas. Online M.Ed. students must use this account as this is the way the department and your advisor communicate with you.

To learn about your UARK account and to set up your e-mail account, go to http://compserv.uark.edu/

    1. Click on New Students
    2. Follow the directions

This should be done as soon as possible after you have registered, as you will use this username and password to access your courses, ISIS and your e-mail. In addition to your username (ID) and password, you should write down your PIN number, as you may be required to use it in the future.

  3. Register for Classes
After discussing your Program of Study with your advisor, you will register for classes through ISIS. Instructions for using ISIS are available at:

    http://www.uark.edu/admin/isisdir/

In addition, you will find registration information and instructions in the Off-Campus Student Guide about 4 weeks before classes begin at:

    http://www.globalcampus.uark.edu/CreditStudies/csOffCampus/registration.htm

    -Click on Student Guide
The Student Guide contains the latest information regarding classes, rules, calendars, and information on cost, billing, and books.

A complete ISIS "how-to" guide can be obtained by calling (479) 575-5651.

  4. Order your Textbooks
You will find the textbook order form here.

Textbooks should be ordered at least two weeks before classes begin.

  5. Apply for Financial Aid (if needed)
If you are interested in receiving financial assistance, contact the Office of Financial Aid at (479) 575-3806, or visit their Web site at:

    http://www.uark.edu/admin/fininfo/index.html

  6. Access Blackboard
Blackboard is the system used by the department for online learning. The department partners with the Division of Continuing Education to offer this degree program.
