The information provided here is under "Other Useful Information" because these are topics our department does not usually deal with directly. While we want to be as helpful as possible, we encourage you to contact the experts!
Attempting to park on campus can be quite a challenge! On-campus students typically purchase a parking permit. If you are taking courses from a distance you will not need to do this, but if are visiting campus you will need to obtain a Visitor Parking Permit and familiarize yourself with locations where you can legally park.
If you visit the campus only rarely (once per year, for example), you have the option of requesting a Departmental Visitor Parking Permit.
Parking tickets are expensive and rules are enforced! If you are going to visit campus, plan ahead!
Students taking courses on campus typically carry a student ID card to access the HPER student fitness center or to check out materials from the library. Off-campus students might find the card useful if they wish to purchase athletic tickets, or to take advantage of student discounts offered at bookstores, movie theatres, etc. The choice is yours, but to obtain the card requires a visit to campus.
Visit the Campus Card Office for more information.
E-mail etiquette
It is always advisable, when e-mailing faculty or staff, to address the person to whom you are sending the e-mail. In addition, it is considered proper etiquette to include your name (or signature). While this might seem elementary, students sometimes simply write their message without including a "to" or "from", and an e-mail address does not tell faculty or staff who wrote the message.
